Cities Mission Conference, Vilnius 6-8 May 2025



European Commission awards the EU Mission Label to 39 new cities


The 39 cities that received the label are: Antwerp (Belgium), Gabrovo, Sofia (Bulgaria), Liberec (Czechia), Aarhus, Copenhagen (Denmark), Dresden, Leipzig (Germany), Cork, Dublin (Ireland), Athens (Greece), Bordeaux Metropole, Dijon Metropole, Dunkerque, Grenoble-Alpes Metropole, Nantes Metropole, Paris (France), Padova (Italy), Riga (Latvia), Taurage, Vilnius (Lithuania), Budapest (Hungary), Krakow, Łódź, Rzeszow, Warsaw, Wrocław (Poland), Velenje (Slovenia), Košice (Slovakia), Helsinki (Finland), Helsingborg, Lund (Sweden), Reykjavík (Iceland), Oslo, Trondheim, Stavanger (Norway), Istanbul (Türkiye), and Bristol, Glasgow (United Kingdom).


The Mission Label was handed over to the selected cities at the Cities Mission Conference 2025, taking place in Vilnius.

Participated in the two-day conference organized by the Municipality of Athens on February 26 and 27, entitled "Climate Neutrality and Resilient Athens: Green and Blue Interventions in the City in the Age of Climate Crisis".


The National Network of Mission Cities - CLIMANET was established as as a cooperation network for the climate neutrality of the cities of Greece and Cyprus.


The creation of CLIMANET was signed by the Mayors of Athens, Thessaloniki, Kalamata, Ioannina, Kozani, Trikala and Limassol and was welcomed by the Secretary General of Spatial Planning & Urban Environment of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, Mr. Efthimios Bakoyannis.

Delighted to participate in the 2-day kick-off meeting of the CLMS-Cities project, funded by hashtag#HorizonEurope and dedicated to the Mission Label Cities.


It was a pleasure to meet the project team, whose considerable experience and expertise will ensure that CLMS Cities delivers tangible solutions for the Mission Cities and beyond!

Thessaloniki - January 2025



I was delighted to participate in the conference organized by the Municipality of Thessaloniki, which focused on advancing the city's climate neutrality and resilience.


The two-day event featured insightful contributions from distinguished speakers representing the Greek government, regional authorities, universities and research institutions, the European Investment Bank (EIB), the Green Fund, the Climate City Capital Hub, and other prominent organizations.


A key highlight of the conference was the meeting with the Mayors and representatives of the six Greek mission cities (Athens, Ioannina, Kalamata, Kozani, Trikala, Thessaloniki), along with Limassol from Cyprus, to discuss progress and outline the next steps for the National Network of Mission Cities of Greece and Cyprus.


The overarching message of the event was clear: achieving climate neutrality, resilience, and smart urban development requires the commitment and collaboration of all stakeholders—municipal authorities, national governments, the European Commission, cities, and citizens.

M100 HUB - Bucharest October 2024



Event hosted by M100 - Mirror Mission Cities Hub Romania to announce the 10 Romanian cities, who have won the national challenge and will receive together 1 billion€ in the next years to achieve climate-neutrality by 2035.

A two day event was organised by the General Secretariat for Spatial Planning and Urban Environment at the Ministry of Environment and Energy.


The highlight of the main event was a dedicated meeting with the mayors of the Greek Mission Cities (Athens, Ioannina, Kalamata, Kozani, Thessaloniki, and Trikala), along with Efthimios Bakogiannis, the General Secretary for Spatial Planning and Urban Environment, and other representatives from the Greek Ministry of Energy. ​The discussion focused on the progress of implementing CCCs and developing the National Network of Mission Cities.
