The “Smart Cities in the Mediterranean” Strategic Partnership aims to work for ‘smartening’ cities in the Mediterranean region by sharing resources, knowhow and experience.
The Cluster was founded in May 2014 based on a plan that was submitted as a Project/Commitment 4817 to European Innovation Partnership (EIP) and in response to a call for projects/commitments issued by EIP in February 2014.
The Partnership is formed between multidisciplinary organizations; research centers, industry, innovative SME’s, civil society actors and other stakeholders, to integrate a range of planning approaches as well as tools and enabling technologies that can support participatory-oriented city- and citizen-specific urban planning studies, capable of dealing with sustainability challenges that are faced by cities today.
